Yorke Peninsula

Moonta was our base for a few days, what an interesting town. With so much mining history, it definitely didn't disappoint, Les & I spent most of one day walking the history trails, even got to walk up onto the mullock heaps, fascinating and that wasn't tongue in cheek, it really was.

An old Miner's Cottage

So many ruins, the National Trust is trying to repair and salvage them.

And with all the Cornish influence here, how could I go past these.

And yes, it was good.

We also headed into Wallaroo for a look around, I can remember spending Easters here as a kid, and someone's hat flying off when walking out on the jetty, (Uncle Maurice's I think). No way to get that back from this long one, it's over 860metres. A good walk.

Made it to the end.

From Moonta we headed back towards Pt Augusta, ready for the drive to get the car's tail-light replaced.

Found a donation camp just out of Port Pirie at Napperby, unfortunately the Southern Flinders' are closed for controlled culling at the moment so we were unable to venture far, but the view was beautiful.

Did a quick drive into Pirie whilst based here

Also whilst here we had a lucky escape with a sudden storm that came through. Trying to get the awning down in huge winds was fun and at one stage we thought it had broken as the wind was that strong it was distorting and twisting the rails but thankfully in the end we got it put away and all OK.  Another camper had his swag blown across the park, thank fully stopped by bushes so he was able to save it and dry it out under the BBQ shelter.

Yay, Car light repaired, now just waiting to on the Air conditioner, it hopefully should be next week some time, so we headed back down the Peninsula and ended up in Port Victoria. A beautiful, but windy town. But, much to Les' chagrin, I get to tick off another first. I caught a squid. Yum.

Cant get much fresher than that, from ocean to plate within a couple of hours.
Port Victoria

And our campsite around the Cricket oval

A bit of sightseeing as well from here, especially down to Wauraltee Beach, famous with all the youtubers, and I can see why, but not with this wind.

Still deciding on where to go next week, it all depends on the air conditioner so see  you next Sunday, from who knows where
