Heading North to Mildura

 Back on the road again

We headed directly North through Ararat, heaps of wind farms in this area and massive farms at that, they seem to go for miles and miles in each direction.

We ended up just East of Horsham at a free campground at Taylor's Lake. It had beautiful views of the Grampians (at least for the first day, as the weather turned and couldn't see a thing the next one), and we were treated to a stunning sunset also.

From beautiful clear blue sky to
this

Ended up staying for a couple of nights before moving further North into Mildura, or just South of it, as we found Murray River Camps at Bruce's Bend near Nichols Point.

Passed more silo art getting there, it always amazes me how the artists get the perspective right on a curved surface. Oh, just to have an inch of their talent

Camped right on the banks of the Murray, passing the days watching the paddle boats, houseboats and skiers doing their thing.

We played the real tourist whilst here, a visit to the Mildura Homestead, lovingly rebuilt building and outbuildings after the original was so badly deteriorated.

Loved all the old machinery around the place

Also had to have a look at the Mildura Lock 11, and Lock Island

A hand operated Lock Gate

Also did the drive down river to Wentworth to see the Murray Darling Junction and Lock 10

Thought the Murray was murky, but it's nothing on the Darling.
You can compare the 2 here at their junction of the 2 mighty rivers coming together.
(Darling on the Left)

Dipped the wheels into the Darling

And visited the historical Wentworth Prison and Wharf.

Enjoying the fine weather and living outside again.
Dinner overlooking the river, and brekkie being cooked outside.
Now this is the life.

And a beautiful moon to complete our stay.
