After leaving our friends at Croydon,
Found a couple of roadside stops along the way, no point in rushing these things, you have to stop and enjoy the sunsets.
Finally came into Mary Kathleen, a destination we have visited prior, but have never stayed. Thank goodness we did this time, and used this as a base for the week. Found a heritage trail not far from here, to long forgotten mining towns and railway sidings
Beautiful lines of the Argylla Ranges
and OMG, the most amazing waterhole. Mt Isa have been keeping this one a secret, and so shall we, but we have been told the Crocodile Dundee waterhole scene was shot here. It's is one of the prettiest places we have ever come across.
We were treated to live music by Elvis Kernaghan and his band the Min Min Lights playing in the old town square at Mary Kathleen on Friday night.
Locals cows, horse and donkey keeping us company each night, what a wonderful week it has been.
Fantastic photos! You must tell us where that waterhole is! 😘 J&D xo

DeleteI’m just catching up. Looks fantastic. Thanks for reminding me about it. Can’t wait for you to get back down to see how the Big Tom’s reef is progressing since you saw it installed last year.
ReplyDeleteThanks J & W. Can't wait either, that was still one of the best spots we've camped, but the company may have something to do with that also.
